baldwin-park.JPGI really enjoy this part of Savannah’s historic Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Historic District that was registered in 1985. Bound by Victory Drive to the south, 40th Street to the north, Waters Avenue to the east and Price Street to the west with a little jig at 41st and Victory Drive where Lincoln Street becomes the western edge. Of all the historic neighborhoods that are close to downtown, Baldwin really has a nice feeling to it. This feeling, which is one of grand trees and front lawns and architectural and human diversity, is enhanced by a strong neighborhood association . My friend James Holmes, who lives in Baldwin Park, is one of those special people who contribute by co-hosting a monthly “movie night”. It really is a family affair and the screen is a simple sheet tied into the trees but guess what? It works, and the park is a nice place to hang out for one of these events. If you would like to be notified of James’ movie nights try contacting him at Baldwinparker514athotmaildotcom (spelled out for James’ protection). On August 18th, 2007 they will be hosting a showing of Jimmie Stewart’s classic “Harvey”

Nice job Ron! Baldwin Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Savannah. And thanks for the heads up on movie night. Harvey is one of our favorites. (ps - when you click on the evoca link, check out the spelling of the neighborhood. just a heads up.) Best to you and yours!

Thanks for the nice words about our wonderful neighborhood Ron! Baldwin Park is a very diverse neighborhood filled with both native Savannahians and folks who have relocated from other parts of the country. We appreciate your bringing a special focus to our distinct part of the Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Historic District. And…Baldwin Park also includes some of the most interesting and gracious homes on Live Oak and Palm lined Victory Drive! We look forward to more from the blog!
    Best regards,

[…] Last week Ann Hart of southernmamas.com asked me if I would share what I think are the best neighborhoods in Savannah for children. Let me preface the rest of this blog by saying that I will be talking about historic neighborhoods as that is my area of greatest interest. My first response was Baldwin Park as I have sold three houses over there in the past year and in all three cases, this neighborhood won out for my clients who are all professionals with young children. They all preferred this neighborhood over others we looked at and it is not surprising because you can get a lot of house for the money there and the neighborhood just plain feels good. It is kind of hard to explain because you have to be there yourself, sort of like when you look at all those on-line photos of a house and then you actually go – can be quite a different experience. Because I am familiar with the neighborhood and have friends Robert and James who have been living there for several years, I am not surprised by this. I love Baldwin too. The photo above is a couple young ladies from the Baldwin Park neighborhood enjoying the movie night in the park. […]
