Savannah Real Estate Owners Enjoy a Plethora of Travel Possibilities

Talmadge Bridge
Due to Savannah, Georgia's proximity to air, rail and highway access, traveling to and/or from your Savannah real estate has many possibilities.

Seven airlines serve the Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport with direct daily flights to Chicago, Newark, Atlanta, New York / LaGuardia, Cincinnati, Dallas / Fort Worth, Houston, Detroit, Memphis, Tennessee, Washington D.C. and Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport is currently under expansion, with the main entry road briefly narrowing to a single lane to accommodate construction. Notwithstanding, with only ten gates, the small airport is not overly crowded and reasonably easy to navigate both in parking and terminal entry.

Limousine, taxi, shuttle and rental cars are available and the various shops in the concourse include a postal center, salon, gifts and restaurants.

Amtrak has a rail station in Savannah serving 42 stations daily from Miami to New York. Amtrak’s Silver Service trains include sleeping and dining car accommodations while the Palmetto offers business class with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks, priority boarding and more.

Savannah, GA, is an international port city with a harbor too shallow to accommodate large cruise ships. American Cruise Lines have small ships that dock briefly in Savannah on tour cruises originating in Charleston or Jacksonville.

Interstate highway access to Savannah is available with either I-95, which runs from Florida to Maine or I-16, which runs east and west from Savannah to Macon, Georgia and connects to I-75 at Macon. Main veins through the city include Veteran’s Parkway, Truman Parkway, the seven-mile long Interstate highway 516, Abercorn Street, DeRenne Avenue and Highway 80.

Rush hour commuter traffic in Savannah is heavy in all directions with significant daily delays on the southside around Georgetown, the Westside near Pooler, northside in Garden City and Port Wentworth, and eastbound toward the islands. //
